Pride at the Olympics ( + catching up.. )

Okays.. been 2wks since i last posted an entry here..
haha. been a busy 2wks i guess.. more or less.

Updating in progress . . . . . .
(beware, long wordy post ahead..)

Loading . . . . . .

The Olympic Games
Today. Just under under 2.5hrs ago..
A match that i wldnt miss it for the world..
Well, unless its for 1 special person =)
Singapore played against China in the Women's Table Tennis Finals, vying for Gold,
assured of a Silver after beating Korea, having played all 5 matches against them..
To see the Singapore Flag being risen together with China's and Korea's Flags, I would safely say that any Singaporean would feel the pride on seeing that sight..
After so long (48yrs), Singapore is able to see her flag -- OUR flag -- being raised at the Olympic Games =)
A Silver Medal! Cheers!! :)
How I wish I was in Beijing in the Peking University Gym just now.. haha.
Just like how I wished to be at each National Day Parade each year..
And feel the pride when u see the Singapore Flag flying high in the sky..
Some ppl might say "wow patriotism!" with a tinge of sarcasm or whatsoever, but what the heck.
We're Singaporeans afterall.. If we cant be proud of our own country, what else can I say?
Anywaes, I congratulate Team Singapore for having done a great job,
esp the Women's Table Tennis team, for having made China earn their Gold medal..
Havent reali been able to catch much Olympics action this time around,
but I would say China certainly played well, especially Zhang Yining..
Singapore also did well, considering we didnt lose every single game to them, but rather, at times, created nail-biting moments..
Cheers to Singapore and her players! =)

Okays, back to Singapore for real.. haha.
The past 3wks have been busy, so to speak..
In a nutshell, I had my last wk of VA which ended on 8 Aug 08.
A week that I was kept busy, not by work, but other things as well..
Things that i dun regret doing =) [onli someone wld noe.. haha]
A good 3wks of ups and downs, of happiness yet mixed with worry at times..
Not due to problems created by uS, but by a little something -- system -- called CORS.
Yup, it seems to be system that is organised.. and fair.
(Not intending to rub any salt into any wounds, my non-engin friends..)
To us Engin students, we probably wldnt face this problem much since our modules all more or less allocated, ie assured of getting the modules we want (or need, actually)
Or more specifically, Mech Engin ppl..
but to ppl in SoC or Science, as I've seen for myself tis semester, its more than jus another bidding exercise..
To a certain extent, like some kinda investment or stock exchange..
I've seen Dear and another of my best friends fight to the core,
and experiencing depressing and exasperating moments with CORS..
And sending numerous email appeals and pleadings..
and the person at the other end keep saying to wait for the next round and send in another appeal after the round has ended..
but one would wonder at the non-feeling-email reply which the party at the other end gives..
one short paragraph (if we can even call it a paragraph) that basically tells u to w a i t .
And another reply from a prof that goes "Then wait for our reply."
Yes, that coming from an academic P R O F E S S O R in a Singapore University..
In response to a student's plea to assist, and request for advice on the next course of action..
When i saw that, i was simply dumbfounded / amazed / stunned -- whatever shocked words that can be used to describe it..
Not even a word of advice or reassurance, or at least to understand the situation, or set up an appointment for a meeting with him to at least tRy to listen and see the circumstances,
all the while the student is politely appealing to him for help and advice, and politely replies his email each time..
yeah right, CORS appeal system works.. i'm sure .
Well, after 2whole wks of anxiety and frustration which Dear and I shared,
finally, on thursday, the last resort seemed to work..
A whole load of anxiety and worry finally was lifted off our shoulders..
2wks of sleeplessness, of unrest & repeated refreshing of the NUS Email and CORS webpages..
sighs.
But i'm glad we worked thru it fine.. :)
and emerged even stronger, we did =)

Fast forwarding, 1wk of lectures have passed..
Some introductory, some moving onto more things..
One thing for sure, i shld be concentrating most at Prof Seah's lectures again =)

Friday
My group had a presentation to SATS to compete with 2 other groups for our ME3101 design project.. up til now, still no reply or results of the presentation whatsoever..(ie results of who will get the project)
Also, Dear and my plans were kinda spoilt by some events,
but we made it thru.. and dinner was very very special along West Coast Park Beach =)

Saturday, Dear and I spent a whole day together, doing things and stuffs together :)
and I super enjoyed that day lots! *jumps* haha.. dinner at her house with her family..

Today, jus did some readings, reprinting, bind notes, pump fuel, bought KFC for dinner,
and then watched the Olympic Games *cheers* . plus talked to Dear, of course.. :)
and now, (duhh..) blogging and updating and ranting..
before I go to sleep..
Cant wait to start a next good week with deardear :)
now with things settled down and steadier.. hee.
And I have something to look fwd to the end of tis wk..
The Singapore Fireworks Festival with dear! =))

2mths plus and going stronger and stronger, day by day :)
*hugs hugs*
Yay! Happy! Wheee! haha
